Online Career Resources
1. Online Proofreading Course
As an online proofreader, you get to read through a document, blog post, website article or a book and correct errors.
If you are good at spotting grammatical errors in text or pointing out spelling errors in a menu card, this is the perfect job for you.
Income potential is anywhere between $37k – $60k which increases with experience.
There are two types of proofreading
- General Proofreading
- Transcript Proofreading
General is good for beginners and involves reading through books or blogs to correct mistakes. It’s less technical and quicker to master.
You can then move on to Transcript proofreading (which involves correcting legal documents) with higher income potential.
Caitlin is an expert at proofreading and has taught over 4,000 students online.
She has this free video workshop, that will give you an in-depth insight into this lucrative business.

Then you can try working as an online transcriptionist. This involves listening to a set of pre-recorded or live audio files and typing it into text.
The main skill involved in pursuing this career is to have a good command of the language and accurate typing skills.
You will also need some patience, as not all audios come with good clarity. But that’s not something to worry about, as these audios usually pay better.
